International film festival begins in Rangpur today

The very first Global Youth Festival Rangpur (GYFR), organized by Shangshad Cinema Bangladesh, will begin in Rangpur on Thursday (Sept 27).
The three day festival which will be held at the district’s Town Hall will exhibit cinematography by young film makers from all over the world.
Films will be screened at 10 am, 2 am and 5 am and the festival will be open to all.
A total of 1,270 films by 101 youth film makers from all over the world have been submitted for the festival.
Producers, Golam Rabbani Biplob and Mahdi Hassan and, film critique, Sadia Khalid, will be judging the films and announcing five winners on Sept 29.
A competition named after Hiralal Sen, the pioneer of cinema in the Indian Subcontinent, will also be held as part of the festival.
Bangladeshi film makers have submitted a total of 83 films in this segment.
Actress Meher Afroze Shaon and producers Fakhrul Arefin Khan and Joshim Ahmed will be judging the films in this category.
The festival will also host a film making workshop which will be attended by 50 producers from all over the world.
