Two killed in Dinajpur ‘gunfight’

ShootoutTwo people have been killed in a “gunfight” with police in Dinajpur.  The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday (Feb 20).

Nawabganj police Officer-in-Charge Ashok Kumar confirmed the matter.

He said during the “gunfight”, four police members were injured including the OC (investigation) Shamsul Islam of the police station.

The deceased were identified as Rafikul Islam, 28, and Wajed Ali, 30.

The OC said: “The duo were arrested on Wednesday evening and they were members of a robber gang. Rafikul was arrested from Gaibandha and Wajed was arrested from Rangpur.”

“According to their information, police along with them went to Magura village to seize weapons."

Sensing police presence, other members of the robber gang open fire at the police and the duo was killed in crossfire,” he added.
