The death toll in the Malaysia-bound trawler capsize in the Bay of Bengal has risen to 19 so far, as the Coast Guard recovered another floating body from Saint Martin beach.
The decomposed body was recovered from the island’s Konapara beach on Sunday (Feb 16) afternoon, said the Coast Guard’s East Zone Staff Officer Lt Saiful Islam.
On Feb 11, a Malaysia-bound trawler capsized in the Bay with 138 passengers near the island’s south part.
According to the Coast Guard, as many as 18 bodies were recovered in past six days.
The maritime force has filed a case over the incident against 19 human traffickers, among whom nine have been arrested so far.
