Three to walk gallows for AL leader Mannan murder

District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahenur passed the order on Thursday (Feb 6).
The convicts sentenced to death are Kofil Uddin, Abdur Rahman, and Md Joinal. Those who got life imprisonment are Md Julfikar, Khorshed Alam, Yasin Arafat Rafi, Md Muktar, and Md Shahjalal.
Each of them were also fined Tk10,000.
Public Prosecutor Md Jasim Uddin said, “AL leader Mannan's murder was an atrocious incident. Convict Kofil Uddin was present at the time of verdict announcement. However l, the other convicts are absconding.”
Defence counsel AKM Humayun Kabir said they will appeal against the verdict in High Court.
According to prosecution, Mannan was hacked to death on May 21, 2014 and his wife Anjum Ara filed a case with Lakshmipur Sadar police station four days later.
Lakshmipur Detective Branch (DB) of police submitted the charge sheet before court against eight people on Jun 2, 2015.
