Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the Dhaka city corporations polls in order to ensure that the elections are free of errors, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda.
“It has been finalised that voting to the two Dhaka city corporations will be done through EVMs,” he said during a media call at Barishal on Saturday (Dec 28).
He added that the Election Commission was also considering carrying out all future elections digitally.
The CEC hoped that the upcoming city polls would be transparent and fair and participatory.
Responding to queries on whether army would be deployed during the polls, Huda said, “There is no need for army during this election. Police, RAB [Rapid Action Battalion], and BGB [Border Guard Bangladesh] is enough.”
