Fire service members are recovering a military vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch on the Khulna-Satkhira highway on Monday (Dec 23)

A member of the Bangladesh Army was killed and 22 others were injured when a military vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch on the Khulna-Satkhira highway.
The incident was reported near Baliakhali bridge in the southwestern district of Khulna's Dumuria Upazila on Monday (Dec 23), said local police OC Md Aminul Islam Biplob.
The deceased has been identified as Lance Corporal Md Shafiqul Islam, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Assistant Director Rashedul Alam Khan told Bangla Tribune.
“The vehicle was heading towards Khulna from Barishal for winter exercise,” said OC Biplob.
According to local officials, 22 army personnel has been injured, who were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital immediately after the incident.
Two of the injured were in critical condition.
The victims would be airlifted to Combined Military Hospital at Dhaka, said ISPR official Khan.
