According to Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), the service had been halted around 3:30am on Saturday (Dec 21) with subsequent stranding of ferries loaded with vehicles and passengers in the mid-river. The service recommenced around 8.30am on Saturday.
"Thick fog slowed down the ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia route. The fog intensified around 3am, prompting the authorities to suspend the ferry services and plying of the water vessels in order to avert accidents,” said Abu Abdullah, manager Daulatdia terminal.
“15 ferries is now operating from the terminal since the services resume,” he added.
