Over a hundred children have been hospitalised with pneumonia in Khagrachari in the last one week as the weather got colder.
Khagrachari Civil Surgeon Idris Mia said that severe cases of pneumonia are being transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
According to him 31 people were admitted to the Khagrachari Sadar Hospital and over 100 hundred children were admitted to the eight upazila health complexes.
Karim Mia, who is having to take his eight-month-old child, in critical condition to Chattogram, said, “They don’t have treatment for pneumonia here.”
However, Khagrachari Sadar Hospital children’s ward senior nurse Sujla Chakma said that most of the children are critical but they are being proper treatment.
The hospital’s resident doctor Naymam Tripura advised adopting caution in order to avoid pneumonia this winter.
