An Indian national has been shot dead by the Border Security Force (BSF) as he attempted to return the country, after entering into Bangladesh illegally.
The incident was reported near the border in the northern district of Kurigram’s Ulipur Upazila on Friday (Dec 6), said Lt Col SM Azad, chief of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 35 battalion.
Azad said the victim "was shot dead inside the Indian territory near the barbed-wire fence in zero line.
“The Indian man is yet to be identified,” the BGB official.
According to locals, the Indian man entered Bangladesh illegally to trade cattle.
The BGB would call a meeting over the matter, Azad said.
