indiaA little less than 1240 tonne of onions has arrived in the southeastern district of Cox’s Bazar's Teknaf land port, says an official.
An amount of 1239.97 tonne of onions was imported from Myanmar on Monday (Dec 2), said port’s Manager Mohammad Jashim Uddin.
Import of onions through Teknaf land port has significantly increased, he said adding “Traders are being encouraged to bring more."
Port's Customs Officer Mohammad Absar Uddin told Bangla Tribune that as many as 10 traders imported these consignments of onions.
The imported onions, subsequently, were loaded on trucks to supply across the country, he added.
According to the Teknaf customs, 21,560 tonne of onions has been imported from the neighbouring country in November so far amid the skyrocketing price of the cooking staples in local markets.
