Faulty rail tracks caused the train derailment and subsequent fire of a Rangpur Express train in Sirajganj’s Ullapara, says a probe report.
The probe panel formed by Pakshi Rail Division was submitted on Tuesday (Nov 26), said Divisional Traffic Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, who headed the committee.
He said that the committee has recommended the Ullapara-Ishwardi rail-line to be renovated immediately.
Meanwhile, a panel formed by the district administration said that that the accident was caused by a faulty signal.
On Nov 14, a Rangpur Express train caught fire after its oil tanker burst following a derailment in Sirajganj injuring at least 20 people.
Three probe committees, two under officials of Bangladesh Railway and the other by the Sirajganj local administration were formed to enquire the accident.
