Nearly 100 robbers surrender in Cox’s Bazar

The ceased weapons from the robbers who have surrendered to the police in Maheshkhali in Cox Bazar on Satuday (Nov 23).As many as 96 robbers and arms manufacturers have surrendered to the law enforcers in southeastern district of Cox’s Bazar.
The surrender started around 10.30am on Saturday (Nov 23) at Kalarmarchara Government Primary School in the district’s Maheshkhali Upazila in the presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary and other top police officials of the district were also present on the occasion.
The robbers who have surrendered to the police on Saturday (Nov 23).The robbers of the 12 groups have surrendered 155 firearms and 273 ammunition, promising to return to normal life.
Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Iqbal Hossain said ringleaders and their associates of the robber gangs, including Zia Bahini, Kala Jahangir Bahini, Mahmuduallh Bahini, Siraj Bahini, Mujib Bahini, and Kalu Bahini, gave in to the police in the program.
Local people heaved a sigh of relief with the surrender of the robbers as Kalarmarchhara union became a crime prone area, where all types of criminal activities, including murder, abduction and extortion take place regularly.
