Intelligence officials have seized as many as 70 gold bars from Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport.
A joint team of National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) recovered the gold on Friday (Nov 22).
Airport’s Manager Wing Commander ABM Sarwar-E-Zaman told Bangla Tribune that intelligence officials recovered the gold covered by polythene inside a toilet of a Muscat-return flight of SalamAir.
He said, “CIID put surveillance on the passengers of the flight after being tipped-off.
“Sensing the intelligences' presence, smugglers abandoned the gold inside the toilet.
“The gold bars weighing 8.17 kilograms are worth of Tk 40 million,” the official added.
