A police constable has been killed and three others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Cumilla.

The accident occurred in Suagazi area of Sadar Dakkhin upazila early Wednesday (Nov 20).

The deceased is Nur Hossain, 35, son of Abdul Haque from Wahidpur village in Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur district.

Sadar Dakkhin police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam said: "The accident occurred around midnight when a police vehicle was hit by a truck from behind.”

"Nur was killed on the spot and three others were injured."

The injured Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mohsin Mia, constable Ismail Hossain and the driver Ershad Mia were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

Later, a team of highway police chased down and arrested the truck driver Jashim Mia, the OC added.
