The forest department will limit access of tourists in the Sundarbans during November, including a three-day suspension of tour operations between the 25th and 27th.
The decision came on Tuesday (Nov 12) at a meeting between Forest Department officials and representatives of Tour Operators' Association of Sundarbans (TOAS).
“Fishermen, however, will be permitted to enter the forest,” said Divisional Forrest Officer (Sundarbans West) Md Bashirul Al Mamun.
Addressing to the meeting, Conservator of Forest (Khulna) Md Moinuddin Khan said, “Tour operations at the Sundarbans will be allowed on a limited scale utill Nov 24.”
“As two subsequent terms of fishing ban have just ended, fishermen will be not barred to enter the Sundarbans,” he added.
