In the collapse of a building in Narayanganj, a missing child called Iftekhar has not been traced as yet, causing indignation among his relatives.
Fire service diver team member Abdus Sobhan said that six divers are aiding the work but since the building has subsided into soft mud, they are facing difficulty accessing the first floor of the building.
The executive officer of Narayanganj Upazila administration, Nahida Barik, said: “The rescue mission went on from 4 pm till afternoon the next day, Monday; but the building has gone under five to six feet of water, which is impeding the work.”

Deputy director of Narayanganj fire service, Abdullah Al Arefin, added: “Six units of the fire service began rescue mission from Sunday afternoon and they opened up passages the entire night to carry out search; the work will go on until the child is found.”
District administration has formed a five-member investigation team with additional district magistrate Rehana Akhter as convener. The committee has been asked to submit a report within the next five working days.
District administrator of Narayanganj Mohammad Jasim Uddin, said: “The UNO has been ordered to take necessary steps to ensure security for homes built near Ttipara area.”
