The recruitment test for ticket collector of Bangladesh Railway (grade-2) has been postponed on sudden notice. The test was scheduled to be held on Friday (July 20) at 3.30pm.
The authorities of Bangladesh Railway’s western zone have postponed the exam, but did not bother to inform the examinees who came all the way to Rajshahi from different parts of the country.
They demonstrated in front of city’s Rail Bhaban protesting the decision.
A Railway official Ashim Kumar Talukdar said, “The test will be rescheduled after a month later.”
When asked why the test was suddenly postponed, he said, "The recruitment committee can tell the details”.
When contacted with Railway (western zone) General Manager Abdul Awal, he didn’t receive the phone.
The examinees said that they reached Rajshahi a day before the exam and went to the exam centres where they found that there are no arrangements for the recruitment test.
Later, they went to Rail Bhaban where they found a notice was hung reading that the exam has been postponed.
An examinee Shamim Hossian, came from Patuakhali, has urged remedies of these sorts of irregularities of the authorities.
Rubel Islam, an examinee came from capital’s Nabinagar, has alleged that those who can bribe money to the Railway authorities will get the job.
Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were deployed in front of the Nagar Bhaban and Ashim Kumar Talukdar has assured that the test will be held within a month. Later, the examinees left the place with huge disappointment.
As many as 30000 examinees including 14000 from Barishal, 6000 from Dinajpur, 2000 from Naogaon, were present to participate in the test scheduled to be held on Friday.
