Twenty-four-year-old Murad and 33-year-old Md Amanullah were detained from a madrasa in Fatullah late on Saturday (Oct 12), RAB-11 Senior Additional Director Alep Uddin said in a media statement on Sunday (Oct 13).
The statement said that a significant number of “extremist books and leaflets,” along with a laptop were recovered during the raid.
It said that RAB raided the madrasa located at the Masdair area based on a tip-off that active JMP members were holding a meeting there.
Murad, who hails from Narayanganj completed his bachelors from a private university in Dhaka, the statement said.
The statement said that a significant number of “extremist books and leaflets,” along with a laptop were recovered during the raid. He reportedly entered the militant outfit in 2014 through an acquaintance and was in contact with terrorists in several regions.
According to the statement, he was responsible for downloading and distributing “extremists books and videos” amongst other members and it was through him that the other detainee, Amanullah joined.
Meanwhile, Amanullah was working as a teacher at a madrasa in Narayanganj and the meeting was taking place in his room.
RAB said that during primary quizzing, the two revealed planning an attack on the law enforcers and breaking out the imprisoned militants.
The statement said that a case was being opened against the two with Fatullah police.
