At least 20 people, including policemen, were hurt when two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) clashed over disputes on celebrating the birthday of Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The incident was reported on Saturday (Sept 28) at the Government Nazimuddin University College when the two groups arrived at the scene with separate programmes.
Clashes erupted between the BCL rival groups, when witnesses said several explosions were heard. Police had to lob teargas canister as well as shoot blanks in the air to disperse the BCL activists.
Law enforcers detained several people from the scene.
“At least 20 people, including four policemen, were injured. Additional forces have been deployed on the campus,” Additional Superintendent of Police Badrul Alam Molla said.
