5 'drug dealers' killed in 'shootouts' in 4 dists

Shootout

Five suspected drug traffickers were killed in separate ‘shootouts’ with police and RAB in Kushtia, Dhaka, Natore and Laxmipur districts on Tuesday night and early Wednesday as the anti-narcotics crackdown continues across the country.
Of them, two ‘drug traders’ were killed in Kushita, one each in Dhaka, Natore and Laxmipur.

Kushtia
Two ‘drug traders’ Phutu alias Monna, 35 and Russel Ahmed, 30 were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Ananda Bazar in Mirpur Upazila early Wednesday.
Being informed that a gang of ‘drug dealers’ were gathering in the area for drug-related business, a team of RAB-12 conducted a drive in the area, said Md Mohaiminul, Commanding officer of RAB-12, CPC-1.
Sensing the presence of the elite force, the gang opened fire on RAB members forcing them to fire back that left two people injured with bullets, he added.
Later, they were taken to Kushita General Hospital where the doctors declared them dead.
The lawmen recovered two firearms, 12 bullets, and a huge number of contraband Yaba tablets and bottles of Phensidyl syrup from the spot.

Dhaka
Nur Hossain alias Nura, 36, a suspected drug trafficker and also wanted in 21 criminal cases, was killed in a reported gunfight with Detective Branch (DB) of police at Deushur in Keraniganj Upazila in Dhaka early Wednesday.
Shah Jaman, officer-in-charge of DB police, said the gunfight took place when the law enforcers replied with fire to the gang of drug traders in the area.
Police took Nur to the hospital with bullet injuries where he was declared dead by the duty doctors, he added.
Natore
Another suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with RAB at Bahimali area in Baraigram Upazila on Tuesday night.
The victim was identified as Osman Ali, 32.
Commanding officer of Natore RAB, Major Shiblee Mostafa, said sensing the presence of some criminals, RAB members challenged them and asked to surrender.
At one point, the criminals open fire on the law enforcers prompting them to fire in self-defence around 11:40pm.
After a brief gunfight, the elite force recovered the bullet-hot Osman and took him to the Baraigram state-run hospital.
He was announced dead after by the doctors.
RAB seized a pistol, four magazines, 410g heroine from the scene.
Laxmipur
A suspected drug dealer was killed in a so-called gunfight between his cohorts and police at Raipur Upazila early Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Sohel Rana alias Suraiya Sohel. He was wanted in 22 criminal cases including that of murder, robbery.
The Raipur Police Station OC Azizur Rahman said that a team of police arrested Sohel from Jhumur Cinema Hall area of the district town on Tuesday afternoon.
Later, police along with Sohel conducted a drive on Raipur-Chandpur highway to arrest his associates around 3am.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire to police forcing them to fire back.
At one point, Sohel sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight and was taken to Laxmipur Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
