A person was reportedly killed in a ‘gun battle’ between two groups of criminals in Shankarpur area in Jashore early Friday, police said.
The victim could not be identified immediately.
Based on the information, police were dispatched to the Bablatola area where a ‘gunfight’ erupted between two groups. The fled sensing the presence of the lawmen, said Sub-Inspector of Jashore Police Nahiyan.
Police found the bullet-hit body of the man and took him to the Jashore state-run hospital, he added.
The duty doctor of Jashore General Hospital Shafiullah Sabuj said that the man was dead before arriving at the hospital.
Police recovered a gun, a bullet and five cocktail bomb from the scene.
