Six more people have been rescued after a boat carrying VGF rice capsized in the Jamuna river in Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur.
They were rescued following a search mission, which began early on Thursday (Aug 8).
Some 22 people have been rescued from the boat via a combined effort by locals, river police and fire services as of now.
Dewanganj police OC MM Moinul Islam said that at least five passengers were still missing.
Additional superintendent of Dewanganj police (ASP) Rakibul Hasan Rasel said the rescue mission was halted on Wednesday (Aug 7) night due to adverse weather.
The boat, which was carrying around 28-30 people, was heading towards Halka Haorabari char from Futani Bazar when it capsized due to bad weather around 9pm on Wednesday.
