Road crashes kill seven across country

In Sylhet, two people were killed on the spot when a pick-up van fell into a roadside ditch in Tetli on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway, in Daskhin Surma of Sylhet, in the morning.
The deceased have been identified as Shamir Uddin, 30, and pick-up van driver Mithu Sutradhar, 23, said Daskhin Surma police SI Shiplu.
In Barisal, two madrasa students were killed and nine others of the same madrasa were injured when their van fell into a roadside ditch at Mulpain in Ujirpur upazila, in the morning.
The deceased have been identified as Lamia, 7, and Abdulah, 7, both of them students of Mulpain Darussunnat Madrasa, said Ujirpur police OC Shisir Kumar Pal.
In Rajbari, a motorcyclist and a van driver were killed on the spot when a truck ran over both vehicles at Ananda Bazar in Baliakandi upazila, in the afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as motorcyclist Jamal Mandal, 45, and van driver Islam Sheikh, 50, said Baliakandi police OC AKM Ajmal.
Police arrested the truck driver, the OC added.
In Thakurgaon, a man was killed on the spot when the vehicle he had just been driving overturned on him after he had gotten out and was standing next to it. The vehicle crushed his head. This happened at Jadurani market in Haripur upazila in the morning. The deceased, Saiful Islam, 45, was a cattle businessman, said Haripur police OC Amiruzzaman.
Locals said the vehicle overturned suddenly after he unloaded some cattle from it.
