Bus owners and workers in Sirajganj have partially withdrawn their indefinite strike between the district and northern routes, easing the inconvenience to commuters and travellers.
However, bus communications on Dhaka-Sirajganj route have remained suspended while discussion to resolve the crisis is going on.
Sirajganj District Bus, Minibus and Coach Owners' Association President Alhadi Almaji Jinnah confirmed on Sunday that they withdrew the strike after a meeting with local lawmaker Habibe Millat Munna, district administration and transport leaders.
He said the strike was called off after lawmaker Munna and Deputy Commissioner Faruk Ahammad assured them of solving the existing crisis and keeping the suffering of flood-affected people in mind.
However, he said they would start plying buses towards Dhaka as soon as they reached a solution through discussion.
Soon after the strike withdrawal, their plying of vehicles started through the internal routes of Sirajganj and towards Kushtia, Khulna and Jessore, along with northern region districts.
Sirajganj District Motor Workers' Union General Secretary Ansar Ali said: "We will start plying vehicles on Sirajganj-Dhaka route once our three counters at Mohakhali in Dhaka are reopened."
The conflict had erupted among bus owners and workers of Dhaka and Sirajganj overplying buses of "Sheba Line" on the Dhaka-Sirajganj route.
The dispute had caused indefinite strike since Jul 21.
