PM to choose only qualified candidates for next polls: Shajahan Khan

Shipping Minister Shajahan KhanShipping Minister Shajahan Khan has stated that prime minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will nominate candidates for the upcoming 11th general election, judging by a multitude of qualifications such as personal popularity, political experience, loyalty and public support. The minister made the comment after inaugurating the foundation stone of a new building for the Madaripur Officers’ Club on Sunday.

He also added that Awami League has completed all preparations for participating in the next general polls, and the election will be held on schedule as per the constitution. Talking about a certain political party, Shajahan Khan said: “The people of Bangladesh will not vote for those who support terrorism and militancy and kill innocent people.

“The people know that the party will bring ruin to Bangladesh through corruption and terrorism if elected.”

Speaking about Awami League government’s contributions, he said: “Bangladesh will become a developed country by 2041 through the leadership of Sheikh Hasina’s government. We must work together to achieve this goal. People, impressed by the development projects of Sheikh Hasina, will vote for the boat again.”

Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Md Wahidul Islam, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Hossain and District Bar Association President Advocate Obaidur Rahman were among the guests who attended the programme.
