Water level of Brahmaputra, Teesta continues to rise in KurigramThe water level in Brahmaputra, Teesta rivers in Kurigram is rising rise following gushing water from the upstream.
According to the local Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) office, water level of Brahmaputra River was flowing only 6 cm below the danger level at Chilmari point and on Teesta River, it was flowing 5cm below the level at Kawmia point.
However, the water level of Brahmaputra decreased by 3cm at Noonkhawa point and the Dharala River’s water went down by 7cm at the Ferighat point.
The BWDB, however, says the rise was not alarming.
“The water level has gone up but not at an alarming level. We are monitoring the whole situation and prepared if floods hit,” said BWDB Executive Engineer Md Shafiqul Islam.
The embankments damaged in last year’s flood have been repaired, he added.
