Syed Iftekhar Alam Shourav is seen in a picture from his family photo album.Former state minister Sohel Taj’s nephew, Syed Iftekhar Alam Sourav, has been rescued by police from Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh, 11 days after he was abducted in Chittagong.

He was rescued in the Batala Bazar area of the upazila around 5:30am on Thursday (Jun 20).
Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tarakanda police station, said the criminals left Sourav, 25, in front of Jamil Auto Rice Mill.
Upon receiving information, police went to the spot and rescued him. The OC said that Sourav is doing well now, police said.
The police official continued: “Sourav is in the custody of the district superintendent of police. We will hand him over to his family after a routine interrogation and completing some legal procedures.”
Previously, on June 17 at a press conference in the capital, Sourav’s mother Anjuman said her son went missing when he went to respond to a RAB job offer.
“RAB officials contacted Sourav, and told him to be present on June 9 in front of Agora in the Chittagong Mimi Super Market area, at 7pm, with his passport, certificates, and CV, ” she told the press conference.
The victim’s family also said that on May 16, 2019, Sourav was abducted—for the first time—from his temporary residence in the capital’s Banani, by a group who identified themselves as DGFI, and RAB personnel. He was dropped back at his residence the following day.
