NatoreAn Awami League leader has been killed, reportedly by a drug gang, in Natore’s Baraigram upazila.
The deceased is Hasinur Rahman Sokir, 65, Awami League chairman of local ward—and son of late Jarip Sarker—hailing from Garfa village in Chandai union of the same upazila.
Hasinur died late on Monday (Jun 17), Baraigram police OC Dilip Kumar Das told Bangla Tribune.
Chandai UP Chairman Anisur Rahman said: “On the way back home, the drug gang made Hasinur unconscious and robbed him.”
“Later, locals rescued him from Puthia upazila of Rajshahi and admitted him to the upazila’s health complex.”
Acting on recommendations, his family then shifted him to Patwary General Hospital in Baraigram, where he died while receiving treatment.
Members of this type of gangs dope their targets before robbing them of money and belongings.
