At least 11 people were killed and eight others injured when a bus and a pick-up van collided head-on in Syedpur Bypass area of Syedpur Upazila on Sunday night.
The accident took place in Motirmor area on Sayedpur-Dinajpur highway around 10:30pm when a bus hit the pick-up van leaving eight dead on the spot, the OC of Syedpur Police Station Shahjahan Pasha said.
The injured were taken to different hospitals in Syedpur.
Five of them are in critical situation, the hospital sources said.
The group hired the pick-up for making a picnic trip on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and met the tragedy while returning home, the police officer added.
