Historic Sholakia Eidgah ground is ready to host the biggest Eid congregation in the country as the government has taken all necessary arrangement to hold its 191st event.
As usual, the congregation will start at 10am when Mawlana Farid Uddin Masud will lead the massive gathering where over one hundred thousand people pray for their eternal salvation.
Police have taken necessary security steps to protect the ground and it will deploy drone for the first time.
Keeping the terrorist incident in 2016 in mind, the government has given security as the top priority. District administration, police, RAB and other forces are working round the clock to make it a success.
Kishoreganj district administrator Md Sarwar Morshed Chowdhury said, “The administration and the law enforcing agencies are working together to hold the congregation properly. We hope that like in the past, the event will be held peacefully.”
It is learnt that the first large Eid congregation was held on the ground in 1928 when one hundred and 25 thousand people gathered there and from then on, the ground is known as Sholakia.
