The officer-in-charge of Narayanganj’s Araihazar police has been withdrawn for his negligence in dealing the case filed over gang-raping a woman the municipality.
"OC Akter Hossain has been attached to district’s police lines on Friday (May 17)", district police inspector Szzad Rumon told Bangla Tribune.
On May 5, a group of men picked a woman on her way home from a nearby grocery shop around 8pm in municipality area. They then raped her and video recorded the incident. The perpetrators even tried to blackmail her.
Following incident, the women reported to Araihazar police on Wednesday (May 15) where the OC delayed to file a case and advised her to settle the issue through arbitration.
However, on Thursday (May 16), a case was filed accusing six people of threatening the woman.
Two of the accused, -- Kawasr, 25, and Anwar, 20, were arrested and sent to jail.
The four other accused are Selim, 30, Mainuddin, 25, Sohel, 27, and Abul (26).
