At least nine persons were reported dead and several injured in road accidents across the country between Friday midnight and Saturday early afternoon.
Among the victims, two died each in Chattogram, Narayanganj and Chapainawabganj, one each in Bogura, Habiganj and Naogaon.
Chattogram
Two people including a woman were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus in Satkania Upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Razzak, 35 and the female body is yet to be identified, said Sub-assistant Director of Fire Services Jasim Uddin.
“A Cox’s Bazar-bound ‘Saint Martin Paribahan’ bus collided with a microbus coming from opposite direction, leaving two people dead on the spot”, Jasim Uddin said.
The Injured were admitted to local hospital.
Chapainawabganj
Two people including a child were killed in two separate road accidents in Kansat and Binodpur area of Shibganj Upazila on Saturday.
Shibganj police OC Mahtab Ali confirmed the news.
Narayanganj
Two persons were died as a truck hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Siddhirganj on Saturday.
The victims were identified as the auto-rickshaw driver Monir Hossain, 30, and the passenger Mahbub Alam, 29.
The incident took place in Dhakeshwari area around 3:30am, killing Mahbub and Monir on the spot, said Siddhirganj police OC Abdus Sattar Mia.
Habiganj
Sujit Basak, 35, died on spot when his motorcycle collided-head on with a pickup van at 11:30am at Mirpur Bazaar in Bahubol on Saturday, Bahubol Model Thana OC Masuk Ali.
The body was taken to district hospital for autopsy.
Naogaon
Another person died in a head-on collision between two good-laden trucks at Mohadebpur Upazila on Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as Shamsul Alam, 47, of Vimpur village of the Upazila.
Shamsul was killed on the spot while he was trying to escape through the scene at the Police seized the trucks following the accident.
Bogura
A man was killed in a head-on collision between a microbus and CNG-run auto-rickshaw Chokbochai area of Gabtoli upazil on Saturday.
