A twenty-member delegation of the United Nations (UN) visited the Rohingya camps at Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya.
The delegation led by the chiefs of three UN organisations visited the camps on Friday (Apr 26) morning.
The delegation included UNHCR High Commissioner Filippo Grandi, UN Under Secretary General (Human Affairs) Mark Lowcock and International Organization for Migration (IOM) Secretary General António Vitorino.
They spoke to the children and women at the camps and also visited the food distributing centres.
They are scheduled to brief the media on the visit later in the day.
The delegation reached Cox’s Bazar on Thursday (Apr 25) and met with the local administration and the refugee relief and repatriation commissioner.
“The UN is working with the international community to resolve this crisis,” Filipo Grandi told the media on Thursday.
He said that discussions were underway to create a safe environment for the Rohingyas at Myanmar.
“It’s clear that Myanmar is responsible for the crisis and they will have to resolve it,” he said.
The delegation also met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after landing in Dhaka on Wednesday (Apr 24).
