A team of police went to the house of Sirajul Islam Jiban on Thursday night to arrest his brother for a false drug charge.
As Jibon protested, police brought him along with his brother to the police station and tortured them throughout the night.

Hearing the news, local journalists held a protest rally in front of the district press club office.

Journalists, at the rally, demanded immediate release of JIban and punishment of the police members, who were responsible.
They also warned of tougher movement that includes boycotting news of the crackdown on drugs.
Journalists also called an urgent meeting for Saturday to decide on the next programme.
