A fire broke out at a spinning mill in Cumilla Export Processing Zone late on Monday (Apr 8).
“The fire started at RN Spinning Mills around 9pm and engulfed the whole factory very quickly,” said Ratan Kumar Nath, assistant director at Cumilla Fire Service and Civil Defence station.
“It took 10 firefighting units from the EPZ, Chowara Bazar and Cumilla fire stations more than three hours to douse the flames,” said the fire service official.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, he added.
“The fire first originated at the factory’s acrylic division and then quickly spread through the establishment,” Cumilla’s Superintendent of Police Syed Nurul Islam told the media.
“No casualties have been reported so far, added Islam.
