Eight BNP leaders show-caused for breach of party directive

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)Voting is underway for the second step of voting in Sylhet for the fifth upazila elections.
Election in 12 upazilas started at 8am on Monday (Mar 18).
As per previous declaration, BNP candidates are not competing; two BNP chairmen who took part in the election disregarding party order have been ousted.
Reportedly, all BNP members and activists have been asked by the party to refrain from voting.
Meanwhile, BNP has also showcaused eight party members for taking part in direct and indirect hustings on behalf of other people.
Sylhet district BNP general secretary Ali Ahmed said, “BNP has boycotted this staged elections.”
We have asked party members to stay away from the votes but if they do not then they will be deceiving the party, he added.
Sources say that footage of people campaigning for others has been sent to party top leadership; based on that, eight persons were show caused.
The show caused ones are: Ilias Mia, Sylhet BNP member, Sylhet BNP adviser Ahmedur Chowdhury Nilu, Khadimpur Union BNP general secretary Badrul Islam Azad, Zokiganj BNP joint president Haji Cherag and others.
