At least three schoolgirls were raped in separate incidents in three districts of the country on Monday (Mar 11) and Sunday (Mae 10).
Our Noakhali correspondent Ranjit Chandra Kuri said a ninth grade girl was reportedly raped in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali on Sunday night.
According to sources, Kamrul Hasan Biplob, 21, would often tease the nine grader, who studied at Peshkarhat High School.
On the day, Biplob took her to a garden and forcibly and raped her.Hearing the girl’s screams, locals went to the spot and caught Biplob in the act.
After a mob beating, they handed him over to police.
Companiganj police station Sub-Inspector Mostafizur Rahman said the father of the victim has filed a case regarding the matter, and Biplob has been sent to jail.
The girl was sent to Noakhali Sadar Hospital for medical tests, he added.
Our Nilphamari correspondent Tayieb Ali Sarker said a primary schoolgirl was raped in Dimla upazila of the district on Sunday night.
According to police sources, Sirajul Islam raped the second grader from Jharsingshar Govt Primary School while she was alone at her house, leaving her critically injured.
Hearing the screams of the girl, locals went to the spot and rescued her, but Sirajul managed to escape the scene.
Dimla police station OC Mofiz Uddin said the girl has been admitted to Nilphammari Sadar Hospital.
Police have arrested Sirajul and sent him to jail, the OC added.
In Narsingdi, an eighth grade schoolgirl was reportedly raped by the head master of Charamlab Secondary School in Belabo upazila, reports our correspondent Asduzzaman Ripon.
According to police sources, Harun-or-Rashid, the head master of the school, called the girl into his room yesterday afternoon and violated her there.
He also threatened the girl, telling her not to reveal the matter.
However, the victim told her parents about the incident, who went to the headmaster along with a group of locals and confined him to his office.
After being informed of the incident, police went to the spot and rescued the headmaster.
Belabo police station OC Fakruddin Bhuya said the headmaster is in police custody.
