Investigation report on the allegations of irregularities in the recently held Khulna City Corporation (KCC) polls is expected to be submitted by the end of this month.
Khondaker Mizanur Rahman, Joint-secretary for the Election Commission Secretariat, told the Bangla Tribune on Thursday: “The investigation is ongoing. Although the EC has instructed to submit the report by May 27, it might take two more days to complete the investigation process.
“We heard the depositions of persons related to three poll centres where vote was postponed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The hearing is continuing today (Thursday) also. We are gathering information on the overall situation at the three vote centres on the Election Day,” he said, adding that the evidences and information will be submitted to the EC through a compiled report.
Notable, a three-member investigation team formed by the EC reached Khulna from Dhaka on Monday. The committee started its investigation from Tuesday.
