Three pedestrians were killed after being run over by a covered van on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
The incident was reported on Wednesday (Feb 27) from Cumilla’s Chandina Upazila, said police.
The deceased have been identified as Kazi Rafiqul Islam, 60, Morhom Ali, 75 and Abdul Matin, 65.
“A Dhaka bound bus from Chattogram ran over three pedestrians in the area after its driver lost control over the steering leaving three dead on the spot,” said Md Monirul Islam, in-charge of Eliotgonj Highway Police Outpost.
Police have detained the covered van driver 51-year-old Dudu Mia.
A case has been filed with Chandina police over the accident.
