Road accident kills one in Jashore

JashoreA man was killed as his bicycle collided head on with an ambulance at Jashore.

The incident was reported from the Jashore-Narail highway early on Saturday (Feb 9), said police.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Sultan Arefin, a worker at Ahad Jute Mill.

Sultan was hit by an ambulance when he was returning from the mill with his bicycle at the end of his shift.

The victim’s brother said Sultan was taken to Jashore General Hospital where the doctor pronounced him dead.

Quoting witnesses, Tuhin added, “The driver of the ambulance was on the phone during the accident.”

“Sultan succumbed to his injuries before he was taken to the hospital,” said Jashore General Hospital Dr Ahmed Tareq Shams.

“No case has been filed over the accident,” said Jashore police OC Apurba Hassan.
