Commuters’ suffering peaked during a 20-kilometer long tailback stretching from Tollplaza to Putia area on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Daudkandi upazila of the district on Wednesday, highway police said.
Excessive pressure of goods-laden vehicles on the highway and slowly toll collection caused the tailback, Cullima highway police official Shafiqul Islam told Bangla Tribune.
Shahjada Imran, passenger of a Dhaka-bound bus, said that he left Cumilla in the morning.
He said, “It took me seven hours to arrive in Hasanpur of Daudkandi, which is an-hour trip,” he added.
Police was working to reduce the tailback, the police official said.
