The clash was reported from the city’s Gokornoghat and Aminpur area around 6pm Thursday (Dec 27), said Brahmanbaria police OC Md Selim Uddin.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Rezaul Kabir, Sub Inspector Narayan Biswas were among the injured, he added.

According to locals and police, an argument ensued between Aminpur’s Samrat Hossain and Gokornoghat’s Akib Mia over hiring band party for a campaign procession. Eventually the argument morphed into a violent clash as supporters of both men charged on each other with locally made weapons.

“The situation in now back to normal. However, large number of police personnel are deployed in the area to prevent further clash,” said OC Uddin.

No arrests have been made over the incident yet, he added.
