Four killed in Chuadanga as bus rams autorickshaw

A road crash involving a bus and an autorickshaw has left four people, including a couple, in Chuadanga.
The accident was reported from the Darshana-Jibannagar Highway around 5:30pm on Sunday (Dec 23), said police.
Two others have been injured in the accident, said Jibannagar police OC Sheikh Gani Miah.
All of the victims were on the autorickshaw, he added.
Three of the dead victims have been identified as Jibannagar resident 27-year-old Rabiul Islam, his wife Shyamoli Khatun, 27, and one Jahangir Alam.
The dead couple’s 5-year-old son Toufik and another person are being treated at the state-run hospital in Jibannagar Upazila town w, said the police officer.
Witnesses said the Chuadanga-bound bus collided head-on with the autorickshaw as soon as it reached at Mollarbari area on the highway. Fire service units from Darshana and Jibannagar opened rescue operations soon after.
One Nilufa Yasmin, one of the passengers of the bus, said that the driver was speaking on his mobile phone, when the bus rammed the three-wheeler passenger vehicle.
