The government has become masters at stealing votes, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“The government has been stealing from megaprojects, banks and share markets, and eventfully became the master of vote stealing,” Fakhrul said on Friday (Dec 21).
Speaking at a Jatiya Oikya Front’s rally in Narayanganj’s Bandar Upazila, the senior BNP leader said, “We have to prevent them from stealing the people's franchises.”
Mirza Fakhrul called the party activists to guard all polling centres saying, “They (government) vowed to stuff the ballot boxes on the night before voting day.
“We will adopt zero tolerance against vote stealing,” he warned.
Mirza Fakhrul urged the members of police, army and border troops to carry out duties professionally.
“You are posted on polls duty and bound to perform it neutrally. Stay neutral and next to the people during the Dec 30 election. Don’t take side against the people,” he said.
