A bus in Bagerhat lost control, crashed into a tree and completely turned over, killing three people including the driver’s assistant.
Around 20 people were injured in the crash that was reported in the early hours of Thursday (Dec 20) from Rampal Upazila’s Khulna-Mongla highway.
Two of the deceased have been identified as 43-year-old Ferdous and 25-year-old Kamrul. The third body has not been identified yet.The twenty injured have been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital and various other clinics, said Katakhali highway police Superintendent (SI) Malay Roy.
He added that the dead bodies have been kept at Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue.
“Two units of Bagerhat Fire Service men and six units of Mongla Fire Service men rescued the injured passengers who were stuck inside the bus,” said Bagerhat Fire Service Deputy Director Md Masud Sarker.
The highway was blocked for almost five hours following the accident bringing traffic to a standstill.
