BNP’s Mahbub Uddin Khokon shot in Noakhali

BNP leader Mahbub Uddin Khokon is being treated for gunshot injuries at the Noakhali General Hospital.

BNP Joint Secretary General Mahbub Uddin Khokon has been shot during a clash in Noakhali, said police.
Khokon is running on the party’s ticket from Noakhali -1 constituency in the 11th Parliamentary Election.
“A clash broke out between Awami League and BNP supporters at Sonaimuri, when police opened fire,” Noakhali’s Superintendent of Police Elias Sharif said.
The Supreme Court Bar Association secretary has been taken to the Noakhali General Hospital where he is being treated for gunshot injuries.
“I was shot when police opened fire during a clash between Awami League and BNP activists,” Khokon told the media at the hospital.

Two others identified as Md Sohel and Mahbub's Personal Secretary Iqbal Hossain Rubel were also shot during the clash.

All the victims were shot with buckshot pellets, said Fazle Rabbani, the on-call doctor.
"Mahbub was shot in the back with six pellets, Iqbal on the shoulder with two and Rubel was hit on the leg with one," he said.

On the other hand, Police Superintendent Ilias Sharif said that they fired shots to "bring the situation under controll."
