Indian Border Security Force (BSF) have detained a Bangladeshi national from bordering Phulbari Upazila in the northern district of Kurigram, who Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said a ‘drug trader’.
The detainee, Alamgir Hossain, 22, son of Kashem Ali, is a resident of the upazila’s East Fulmoti village.
Quoting the locals, Nayek Subedar Mohammad Ali of BGB-15 Battalion told Bangla Tribune, “Hossain crossed the upazila’s Khalishkothai border at 8pm on Tuesday (Dec 11) to bring a drug consignment from the house of one Indian national Delwar Hossain at India’s Kuchbiar district.
“Tipped-off, BSF raided the house and detained Hossain and another three Indian nationals along with a large amount of hemp and phensedyl.”
“We informed the higher authorities and will contact with the BSF on Wednesday,” said Ali.
