A motorcycle rider and his pillion passenger have been killed after the bike was hit by a truck on Rajshahi-Dhaka highway.
The incident was reported around 8.30am on Sunday (Nov 4) from Tarapur in Rajshahi’s Puthia upazila, said police.
The victims are identified as Emon Ali, 24 and Sujan Islam, 26.
“Natore-bound goods-laden truck hit the motorcycle leaving Emon Ali dead on the spot. Sujan Islam was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition,” said Paba Upazila Highway police Sub-inspector Mustafizur Rahman.
“Sujan Islam was rushed to the hospital where the doctor pronounced him dead. The body has been kept at the hospital,” said Puthia police OC Sakil Uddin Ahmed.
“Emon Ali’s body has been kept at Highway police camp,” he added.
The driver managed to flee from the spot with the truck, police said.
