As many as 20 vehicles, carrying passengers, were robbed on the old Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Habiganj.
The incident was reported from Chunarughat Upazila on Sunday (Sept 23) evening.
According to locals, a group of armed robbers fell a tree on the highway and robbed the passengers.
Victims said that the robbers, who were masked, assaulted them before taking away their possessions.
“We received news of the robbery and rushed to the spot but the robbers had fled by then,” said AKM Amiruzzaman, OC of Chunarughat police station.
