A 20-member delegation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) visited the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday (Sep 12).
The OIC team visited the Ghumdhum transit camp, where they spoke to the 50 newly-arrived Rohingya refugees.
They then went to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) transit centre at in Ukhiya Upazila’s Kutupalong.
They spoke to the Rohingya women at the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) centre at Kutupalong Lombashia camp and visited the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) children centers at the camp’s D-4 block.
The OIC visitors listened to the plights of the Rohingya refugees who fled their home in Rakhine, Myanmar to escape military persecution.
The team is scheduled to return to Dhaka after a meeting with the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) at 3 pm.
Md. Quraishi Niyash, Secretary General of OIC and other high ranking officials were part of the delegation.
